To be fair, I don’t think that there is nearly as much Marvel/DC animosity as there used to be. Honestly, it mostly feels like it’s rabid Zack Snyder fans versus the rest of DC and all of Marvel.

Both are deconstructions of the superhero genre, but Invincible takes that and molds it’s own take on what a superhero story should be like, while the Boys is more satirical and nihilistic. Both do what they need to thrive in a world of superhero fatigue, but have their own approaches to it.

Most Marvel and DC fans watch/read/play with the media in both franchises, the number of people who don’t is extremely small.

I would agree from my own experience with other Marvel/DC fans, and seeing this meme inspired me to watch Invisible (I don’t know how I missed it back in 2021, but that was a different time in my life).

If we’re talking comics, Invincible clears no contest, just on the grounds of actually being good. In regards to adaptations, I think what The Boys has been able to do with turning their lackluster source material into a genuinely great show is admirable. Although I still think I prefer Invincible simply because it’s less cynical.

Watching: Invincible > The Boys > Marvel > DC (hopefully that changes when Gunn’s universe starts)

Reading: Invincible = DC >> Marvel >>>>>> The Boys

It’s the console war situation again, some are more fan of one side but people typically have dabbled in at least 1 DC and Marvel comic.
