The scene in Mae’s bar where the crowd is getting rowdy. Rebecca’s mum asks Mae to tell the viewers to stop shouting at the football game. Mae tells her they’re not looking at football, they’re watching last night’s Bake-Off episode.

I think that’s a perfect example of how seamlessly this show mixed it up in ways you wouldn’t always see coming. The “soggy bottom” zinger was the icing on the proverbial cake.
