A Clean, Well Lighted Place & The Snows of Kilimanjaro are two of my favorite stories. I’ve never thought he writes women particularly badly. They’re just not his focus.

What he does write about, although often centered around men, is pretty universal: loneliness, fear, finding meaning in existence, etc.
