Ok I am no mycologist but I have to know how they managed such a density of errors. Without research I am going to guess: 1. Cordyceps is not a species 2. It exists elsewhere 3. Misspelling or improper capitalization of Cordyceps, or the word “speci(e)s”?
Yeah, the first Three-Body Problem was just a dreary, depressing read. A friend recommended it and said the series gets better, but I don’t see how the same writer could possibly improve enough from his first book to his second to make it worth continuing rather than finding another book by another author, one capable of eliciting any emotion beyond boredom and impatience interspersed with the all-too-occasional “Huh, that’s kind of an interesting idea.”
I forget exactly how far I made it but it was definitely less than 50 pages and maybe more like 10 before I gave up on Atlas Shrugged.
A former SO read it and liked it. Weirdly, she was not at all conservative or libertarian before or after she read it. She didn’t even seem to pick up on the heavyhanded message, and said she just liked the story.
