I always love it when I read a well-written physics or engineering textbook. I recently started Kip Thorne & Roger Blandford’s Modern Classical Physics, it’s so great.
I’ve only read the first one, but there is a somewhat decent novel in there. I’d say the Cullens (except Edward himself, funnily enough) are written quite well, I have no trouble imagining their personalities. (I hadn’t watched the film when I read it.)
I said this before: even if you like being with the people in your book club, it can still be a challenge if (1) the types of books they’re reading are radically different from your preference and (2) the type of discussion isn’t what you like to do. If you don’t enjoy the book the club is reading, you will have less time to read what you enjoy.
John Keane’s biography of Thomas Paine feels like a political thriller.
