If I remember correctly the viltrumite cells could be damaged but wouldn’t die, similar to how Mark comes back from pretty much every ass beating he suffers. I do agree with you though he’s very squishy

Good reasoning but it definitely shouldn’t have been her, she’s been around FOREVER and has centuries of battle experience. You can see her looking the exact same in the first great purge flashback in S1. She’s way older than Nolan and Viltrumites don’t get any weaker with age
