mark was getting clobbered by fucking maulers 3 episodes ago now he’s able to beat a full grown soldier viltrumite that’s been conquering worlds for millennia just because he “stopped holding back”. Even Nolan who got hospitalized by the guardians while soloing them, only suffered a cut on his head fighting THREE viltrumites!!! Just makes them look weak in comparison. I feel like they shouldn’t even have any chance winning that battle at all, not alone surviving in better condition than against way weaker foes

I remember a scene from the first season where Cecil has some experiments running on blood from Mark, hoping to find a weapon that could hurt/kill viltrumites.

Which is fking hillarious given Mark got beaten up and almost killed like once per episode.

They just want their cake an eat it: having viltrumites be both portrayed as world-conquering superbeings, while also telling a coming-of-age story with stakes, vulnerability and loss.

If I remember correctly the viltrumite cells could be damaged but wouldn’t die, similar to how Mark comes back from pretty much every ass beating he suffers. I do agree with you though he’s very squishy

viltrumite cells could be damaged but wouldn’t die

The real-world issue is cells don’t really have a “damaged but not dead” state because they are to fragile. In-world issue being that we clearly see cells getting destroyed (that’s what wounds are) and we even see viltrumites getting hurt and killed by regular weapons. So blunt force can totally kill them.
