The creator of the show wanted to do another season, which was truncated into an elongated season 6. Most of the scenes I want are side-effects of that change.
- The writers talked about having some episodes focused on Bojack’s relationship to Butterscotch, in the same vein as what they did for Beatrice Horseman. They had to mostly cut it due to time, but I would’ve loved to have a scene giving us an interaction between adult Bojack and his father.
- I wish we’d gotten another scene of Judah and PB getting together. It wasn’t that I didn’t believe the romance, just that it didn’t feel as well-paced as it could’ve been.
- Todd could’ve used a bunch of extra time in season 6. His relationship with his family went from them being pretty shitty people to being more misguided than anything else, and I felt like he forgave them a little too easily. Similarly, his relationship with Maude just isn’t fleshed out.
I don’t think s6 was bad, not at all. But knowing what the vision was, I can’t help but feel like we were robbed.
Yeah, I think another big part of it is that Bojack waited until Herb was literally dying. Herb had it right when he said Bojack was only apologizing for himself, that he just wanted to make himself feel better about things.
