The ‘Loud, Angry Black Woman” schtick is really not for me. She could work as a correspondent, like Lewis Black, but she’s annoying in large doses. I had the same issue with Hasan.
I like the wry, deadpan delivery better. It seems to work well for humor during the opening monologue and plays well off the correspondents. So far my favorites have been Roy, Wanda Sykes, Klepper, and Chelsea Handler. I’d be happy with Kosta, DL Hughley, Kal Penn, or Al Franken.
Kosta’s interview with Ian Bremmer was great. Very frank and open about his shortcomings in understanding. “For a long time, it was convenient for me to ignore it, and now I can’t ignore it anymore.” That really resonated with me.
