For me as a child who was not considered intellectual, I just felt almost alive when I sat down and read John Carter of Mars series by Edgar Rice Broughs. I know it is strange, but at 8, I read Chessman of Mars and I was struck with the simple prose and descriptions.
The truly beautiful story and for me I cannot ever say my childhood was horrible when my grandmother filled it with old books like Chessman of Mars, Dune, The Man who Fell to Earth, The Hobbit, and so much more.
All right I had a huge love for The Bloody Chamber by Angela Carter. The way she writes and describes anything just makes it more indepth, the way a room feels or the feel of a forest in autumn

The Map of Time series by Felix J. Palma
The fact that it takes H.G. Wells Time Machine and puts it in a darker perspective. I never could finish the series because finding it becomes difficult and I don’t have money to burn
