  • Indian-American weighing in here. Kimberly and TJ are equally toxic in their own ways, and there’s a reason why neither Yash nor TJ was able to find a nice, submissive Indian housewife. That entire family is awful, and they probably have a bad enough reputation that no local Indian woman would marry into that mess.

Kim and TJ fetishized each other equally, with no regard to what would happen once reality set in. She is completely nuts, and he’s a sneaky little liar who knew that no self-respecting woman would put up with him or his family’s misogynistic, caveman-era nonsense. I hate how this show portrays Indian culture and Indian people — it’s obvious that they take the most extreme examples and blow them out of proportion for a Western audience.

  • Both Kimberly and TJ’s family are equally batshit insane. TJ and his family are very backwards and conservative, even by Indian standards, and they don’t strike me as upper middle class by any means. And, neither party is handling the relationship issues well. It’s just such a different culture with different expectations for men and women alike.

I’m Indian-American and wouldn’t touch TJ with a 10-foot pole. He and his brother are clearly losers by Indian standards — if they are SUCH a traditional family, why hasn’t Yash gotten married yet as the oldest brother? They are both fluent in English, but I’m not sure what their occupations are. No educated, attractive Indian woman with options would dream of marrying into TJ’s psycho family. That’s why he’s trolling on the internet for white women.
