Not at all. I don’t really look for a particular author nor do I really care if I’m picking up a new one or reading the same. The cover only grabs my attention to the book and makes me want to pick it up. I’ll read the synopsis and decide from there. Don’t even bother looking at the author. That’s how I ended up with a library full of various authors and genres. I just go with my gut.
I think you’re putting too much thought into this. Just read the book at your own pace. Reading isn’t meant to be a race of who reads faster. Just sit down and relax with a good book. It’s that simple.
I have a kindle so I have access to many digital books. I probably read a couple without knowing. I don’t really look at publishers or authors much. I didn’t notice I was a big Neil Gaiman fan until I noticed I had 5 of his books I’m my library.
I tried getting into the GOT books, I really did. But when you spend a whole page describing a table of food with such detail, I get annoyed. His books aren’t my cup of tea let’s say.
I can’t really say an author is overrated. Most I know rightly earned their fans,even JK Rowling thought many people hate her. They write good books that millions love and borderline worship. Stephen King wrote many great books, but in the recent years it’s clear he is running out of ideas. He’s recycling characters and plots. Doesn’t mean he’s overrated because when he was in his prime he set the bar with banger after banger and inspired many future authors to write their own books.
I lost me Kindle for a month after cleaning my room only to find it in my little brother’s room because he thought it was a tablet he could watch YouTube on and tossed it aside when he realized it didn’t have YouTube. So I just got it back and can now finish my book.
