I think a lot of this has to do with cultural differences. In East Asia there is blatant public shaming of people who don’t fit thin body standards. It’s especially bad in South Korea. Look at how people in K pop groups will faint on stage because they don’t eat enough trying to keep themselves thin enough to not get ripped apart. Many trendy clothing brands only have one size because you’re expected to keep yourself within those sizes (although this is less of a struggle because people are much more homogeneous than in Western countries). He comes from a culture without acceptance of plus size bodies, as well as healthier food in general and smaller portion sizes. A regular size fast food meal in Asia is comparable to a kids meal in the US.
It’s possible he’s just a jerk, but it’s also possible that it’s just a cute nickname and Devin doesn’t have an issue with it, she had several plush pigs on display in her room, so maybe she just likes pigs so he called her piggy? It’s hard to tell since we know production directs a lot of these interactions.

I love Jasmine! She’s crazy, but she’s self aware of that fact and I think she might not have had great examples of good relationships. The way she was genuinely surprised when Gino’s cousin’s wife said that the cousin had momentos from past relationships and she was ok with that makes me think she’s only seen contentious relationships and she jumps to thinking the worst because of that. I also thinks she plays up the crazy for the cameras beca she’s shown that she’s compassionate and sensible.

She’s objectively hilarious and very smart. And, in my opinion, is a very good actress. She’s shown that she can be totally reasonable and logical, but she can play up the crazy like a pro

When he was talking about needing to have kids I deadass thought “you want kids when you can’t even afford an apartment with a bathroom?” He’d probably expect Sophie to work full time to support them while also doing all the childcare

I think he’s still working and just making it seem like he quit to add drama.
There’s also a chance that he was “encouraged” to resign because his work doesn’t want to be connected to him. If this is the case they probably gave him a good severance and he can get a new job after this season.

I mean she’s from Panama, not Colombia for one thing. I think she actually genuinely loves him, and the financial help he gives her is a plus. She seems mature and compassionate when she’s not playing up being crazy for the drama. I think Gino likes feeling needed and so he’s willing to help financially to do so. If Jasmine was really in it for the money I’m sure she could find someone with a lot more money. She’s very educated and very pretty (although I think she was prettier without all the fillers), she could do much better than Gino easily.

Yep, I think he’s like “oh look at those houses, $25k a month we can’t afford to move!” when he’s just cheap and lazy. I still think he’s living in someone’s converted garage that isn’t zoned for having someone living there so he’s playing like $500 a month. Which is fine when it’s just him, but it’s not out of line for Sophie to want an indoor bathroom. If he can’t afford that, he shouldn’t be importing a girlfriend who can’t work for several months. I suppose she might still be doing social media stuff although I’m not sure about the legality of that since she doesn’t have a green card.

This is true, things are more expensive nowadays, but my point is that it’s not as crazy expensive as this scene was trying to make it seem like. My point is that they could easily find something with a bathroom in the apartment for $2k or under. Not $25k.

I live in an LA suburb, about 5 miles from the beach and pay ~$2000/month for a 2 bedroom, one bathroom. In Inglewood, it would probably be less for the same size apartment, even less for a one bedroom or studio. Yes, LA is more expensive than most places in the US but it’s not as crazy as they’re making it out to be. Rob might be fine with going outside to use the bathroom, but it’s totally normal that Sophie doesn’t want to. It doesn’t even sound like she wants something super fancy, she just wants to be able to use the bathroom without leaving her apartment.

TBH today I realized that it seems like Nikki was 30 and he was 18 when they got together the first time, which strikes me as Nikki being a sex tourist who tried to get a cute young boy to marry her and move back to the US. I think the trans thing was just the straw that broke the camels back as far as red flags with Nikki, he never lived her and just saw her as a meal ticket. I’m pretty sure that’s still what she is to him, he’s just acting more accepting of her being trans.
