You don’t need either one to enjoy the other they both tell the same story more or less it’s really wish medium you enjoy. Also the show is still coming out and the comic has finished so if you don’t wanna wait I suggest the comics.

I don’t much think it was him holding back but him not wanting to kill and once he realizes that it’s life or death he has much more motivation to go all out and start dealing blows that would kill someone who isn’t as strong as a viltrumite.
