I think he WAS a bad person. He wasn’t driven underground and to his cruelty because he was shunned. He could have illustrated his work on, say, animals first, at least.

And I don’t think he deserves the second chance he’s been given.

But it’s better that he did.

Sometimes what people DESERVE is not the same as the right thing, or the best thing for everyone.

He can do more good now than if he were rotting in a cell. No amount of good deeds can undo what he did to Rick.

But his reanimen can save lives.

And his cybernetics can save save lives. Restore functionality. Enhance quality. Provide assistance and accommodation.

He also can’t undo that.
