  • Omg yes. I dunno why it irks me so much but I think it’s because of how misogynistic and sinister it is.

Like, it’s one thing if a man is patronizing to the effect of, “hurrdurr I don’t know what a “concealer” is but womenfolk sure are Purdy man ain’t they grand, strange, beautiful creatures. I love watching a woman get ready. Just woman things. God love ‘em.”

It’s another thing entirely when you want a woman to look like (insert celebrity or model here) but ALSO want her to not have to have done A) any altering (“plastic surgery is ickkkk CATFISH ew”) and B) without any effort or money. It’s a BEYOND impossible standard for women and its becoming the new thing some men want?

And when men complain about the cost of a truly high maintenance woman, to me it just reads that they’re insecure about a woman knowing (at least monetarily) her worth. Especially if it’s worth she sets herself, and has been paying for herself, and is willing to give it to herself.

  • I had an ex who’s friend would always be swiping and showing me women he wanted to match with and how they were so naturally beautiful. And yes they are beautiful but I would try to explain to him that, in this photo alone, from eyelash extensions, to skincare, to hair, to hair care, to nails, and to yes, the makeup she IS wearing in the photo, she probably spends $250+ per month on her appearance.

Which, good for them. Go off. Nothing wrong with it.

But he would literally sit there and argue that no… her eyelashes are real and that’s her real hair. Like something was INSANELY WRONG about that and he must defend her honor!! And id have to be like “my guy. A) it’s fine if she does and b) I can see her lace front in this photo wtf are you talking about, her hair is several hundred dollars alone you fucking moron.”

If I was dating a man who posted this shit about other women on social media I would cringe into the center of the earth.
