Ah yes, the guys you see pop up in other subs bitching about their girl taking an hour to get ready or spending so much money on makeup/hair/skin stuff yet they pursued someone who looks the way they do.

Though I loved the one I saw years ago where she got tired of all his complaining about her getting ready and utterly stopped. Minimal skin care, got rid of the makeup, stopped spending money coloring her hair, etc. The bf suddenly got up into arms and was begging her to go back to how she was, but she realized how much money and time she saved she said at minimum she’d consider it if he bankrolled it and he balked. I wish I had saved that post.

Omg yes. I dunno why it irks me so much but I think it’s because of how misogynistic and sinister it is.

Like, it’s one thing if a man is patronizing to the effect of, “hurrdurr I don’t know what a “concealer” is but womenfolk sure are Purdy man ain’t they grand, strange, beautiful creatures. I love watching a woman get ready. Just woman things. God love ‘em.”

It’s another thing entirely when you want a woman to look like (insert celebrity or model here) but ALSO want her to not have to have done A) any altering (“plastic surgery is ickkkk CATFISH ew”) and B) without any effort or money. It’s a BEYOND impossible standard for women and its becoming the new thing some men want?

And when men complain about the cost of a truly high maintenance woman, to me it just reads that they’re insecure about a woman knowing (at least monetarily) her worth. Especially if it’s worth she sets herself, and has been paying for herself, and is willing to give it to herself.
