I always get suspicious when people describe themselves as polite.

Reading fiction is a way of consuming stories, just like watching movies and television. It’s not inherently better or worse. What matters is the quality of the stories you’re exposed to. If I choose to spend my evening reading a trashy thriller, while my friend watches a thought provoking and interesting movie which deals with complex themes, I don’t think my time was better spent just because I read words off a page. Some of the most interesting and intelligent people I know hardly ever read. As long as they bother engaging with interesting thoughts, themes and stories, I couldn’t care less whether they read or not.

I would pick three authors I’ve never read before and read all their stuff. Then I’d switch completely to movies and tv series. Reading the same things more than three or so times doesn’t appeal to me.
