Hi! I also have bpd and relate a lot to Bojack. It was really hard for me to watch the first time. Like you said too, definitely not to the same level, but the internal workings of Bojack feel so familiar to us. When I fuck up and want to beg people for reassurance and blow up their phone with how guilty I feel, I hear Todd say “you cant just keep doing messed up stuff and then apologize for it. you need to be better”. It reminds that even in all my agony and sadness, all I can do is try to be better in the future and give people the space they need. It helps me move forward in a healthy way, even with how bittersweet it is. I think it’s helpful to see our most negative behaviors depicted in such a realistic manor. I often find the show comforting now, but still depressing.
I’m 20 and you’re only 18, we’re both young- but I think it’s really good how self aware we both are. We gotta keep working in therapy and try our best :)
