I wish i had read lotr before i watched the movies. I love both dearly, but so much of the mystery and intrigue is lost in the movies. Like i imagine reading lotr not knowing how important gollum is to the story, and feeling a chill down my spine any time there’s a reference to him following the fellowship.

I read the second half of life of pi in almost 1 sitting. Im a substitute teacher, and often i dont need to actually do anything. I walked into that school like 150 pages into the book and i left with it finished. I was entranced. A couple weeks ago I finished reading Washington Black by Esi Edugyan in one sitting, and i think that was over 250 pages in one go. It was the first time in a while i had devoured a book like that
