The YA label is so subjective I’m really getting tired of seeing it. I wouldn’t consider Red Rising to be YA at all. Just because a book isn’t littered with SA or more serious expletives doesn’t mean it’s written for a younger audience.

Surprised to see PHM received with so much division. I personally loved it. Laughed, cried and tore through it in only a few days. I can’t wait for the film adaptation.
David Copperfield and Demon Copperhead
The bedroom in Misery. Really the entire house. I know it’s not as fantastical as some other comments here, but King does such an incredible job of bringing that place to life.
I feel as though I have the opposite problem. I’ve still got dozens upon dozens of acclaimed titles to cover before I think I’ll see a drop in quality. It feels odd giving everything a 4 or 5 on GR when I see posts here every day decrying certain titles. Makes me feel as though I’ve missed something or maybe I’m not critical enough? I’m not sure there’s a book out there that I haven’t rated highly (with the exception of The Silent Patient, although the experience during the reading was enjoyable).
I originally gave it a good rating and then I actually sat and thought about it. My wife read it and we discussed and…yeah, what a waste of a great premise.
That’s such a ridiculous thing to write it actually makes me more excited to read this.
At this point I think we just hope that George wills away rights to the series to Sanderson.
