I think even in a victorian period piece they wouldn’t stamp their foot as much as the trope is used in books. It just makes me think anyone who does that must be in a great folk band and they’re about to do questionable things with a banjo.

As a kid I read my mum’s copy of the devil wears prada and was told off by a teacher because it was an unsuitable book. I was probably about 11 at the time but I didn’t really see the problem with it because to my mind I was just reading a book but didn’t yet have the monetary means to buy new books at the speed I wanted to read them.
I make notes when I read as I write blog posts but it might help you if you need to memorise characters perhaps.
