Last year for Christmas I asked for several books that my dad already had in his garage and instead of getting me decent copies he just gave me his 30 year old copies that were literally falling apart. I’m not someone who cares about having pristine books, like if he had gotten them second hand I wouldn’t have cared, but these things were useful only as kindling
