Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand. The parts where her politics weren’t crammed down your throat were good, her politics will also ensure I never read a second book published in her name.

I’ve been partially deaf since I was 3 but never intentionally seek out books with partially or fully deaf characters. I’m always happy when an author has one on a novel and the character is well written. Same with LGBT characters, I don’t intentionally seek out gay media much but love finding a well written gay character by surprise.
Huckleberry Finn. The book is fine, sharing the same last name as the main character and having to hear about it your entire life is not fine. My last name got legally changed through the courthouse because of that book.
Any of the old Goosebumps books. They tend to be overdone.
I mean my favorite authors do obviously make more money if I purchase a copy of the book and since I usually want them to keep writing I will make a purchase but I don’t feel like library users are cheating them. Libraries are still buying copies and still supporting the author, if libraries buy a few thousand copies across the country because they’re popular enough to deserve it I’m just as excited.
I would heavily consider a decorative copy of Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand. I’ll never ever read another book of hers but I’d own a purely for display copy of that one.
