Honestly, same. Fell in love with Anne Rice’s works as a teen, but stopped reading her stuff published after 1998. I think this is also around the time she stopped letting editors touch her books, which contributed to the decline.
Can confirm, I work in both a library and a bookstore and Red Rising is shelved in adult sci-fi in both places. Don’t know why the OP thinks it’s YA.
