Ottessa Moshfegh. I really hated My Year of Rest and Relaxation and wasn’t interested in more, but a friend was reading Lapvona and it sounded interesting so I gave it a shot. I loved it so much. I’ll have to try more and see which is the outlier, but right now I’m glad I tried her again.
It definitely depends. Honestly, I tend to avoid series because I just burn out before finishing. Otherwise I have to take breaks. I started rereading Discworld last year and had to stop after four; I’ll get back to them some time. Same last time I tried to reread the Anne of Green Gables books. New series, it really depends on how I like the first one.
Probably The Blue Castle. Anne of Green Gables and I Capture the Castle are up there though.

I like books from McNally Editions, NYRB Classics, and Persephone, for just really well made books and lesser known titles.
If I really love a book, totally. I’ve bought two this year that I’d previously read from the library.
Usually it’s the other way for me - I’ll borrow an ebook of a book I own so I can get it read quicker, lol.

I really liked whoever played him in the PBS miniseries with Maya Hawke. Christian Bale is probably still the best, but that guy was way better than Chalamet. But I admit I do not understand Chalamet’s appeal.
I agree. I enjoyed it at the time, but when I think back on it it’s not great.
