Bunny by Mona Awad- um so weird, unique, funny - unputdownable. (The ending can be frustrating , but it worked fine for me).
Cloud Cuckoo Land - the story of a book, and what it means to people across time and space, and the structure and how Doerr is able to weave together all the strings he sets forth is amazing to me.
She might like Kate Morton books. Usually a mystery (not a thriller though) that has some component of the past in it. I like the Lake House or Distant Hours, but they are all pretty good.
