I am someone who can not stand graphic scenes in any form (movies, books,…) and has a hard time reading about abuse in general, and still my friends bought me A Little Life as a gift

Thankfully I almost never read what I had to for school, I just read what I wanted, but one author that I did read and hated every second of it is Marcel Proust. I feel like I would enjoy his books now, but I hated them so much when I had to read him in high school that I am hesitant to pick him up again. Forcing teenagers to read authors like Proust, Goethe and Tolstoy is a good way to put them off reading for life.

I mostly read in English, but I prefer Croatian when it comes to poetry. I love reading Neruda’s work in Croatian, I find the English translations lacking the emotions and beauty that Croatian translations have. I also really enjoy Croatian translations of Shakespeare, and preferred reading them in uni over the original.

Even if I don’t put an effort it happens on it’s own, but sometimes I don’t like the version my brain made so I need do put in some effort to alter it. Mostly, and this is supper random, with interior design. Might be because I studied architecture for a bit, but I need to come up with a whole new apartment layout every time I read a book that largely takes place in a closed space.
