I just read the Year of Magical Thinking and it was so gut wrenching to think that after everything she described going through, her daughter then passed away half a year after the book ends…

Yes. The premise was like…. “What if we took someone with 2023 sensibilities and plopped them into the 50s? They would change the world!” Ok
I just read Although Of Course You End Up Becoming Yourself. To think that he died because he had finally, after like twenty years on the same antidepressant which gave him terrible side effects, thought that was in such a great positive life place that he could try transitioning off the antidepressants, only to find that he did in fact need said antidepressants and no other treatment would work, only to find that even going back onto the same antidepressants would no longer work, trying anything to fix it again for a year before dying by suicide…. It’s so so sad.
