I’ll recommend it. Excellent 20th century American literature that’s not as much in fashion anymore, but deserves attention.

Good Summary! Some creative writing advice, and a lot of scriptwriting advice, gets really hung up on structure and pacing formula. Which is fine, until you see someone else break all the rules and get away with it by making something interesting and different. (Which not everybody likes, of course).
Poe had the most tragic personal life imaginable. Everyone that he loved died before their time.
70s television mini-series with Richard Chamberlin was awesome. They didn’t use subtitles or dubbing. Anjin-san spent the first half just wondering what everyone was saying, until he got a translator.

I was gonna recommend Klein as well. She’s honest about the problems we face but not surrendering to despair.
I also recommend her latest book Doppelganger, which actually follows up on some of the themes in her earlier titles.
Yeah. Don’t think that you have to conquer it or understand everything. Just go along with it, and accept that parts of it never get completely explained.
If this is a vote, I vote in favour. One of my favourite sci-fi novels of the last ten years. A bit subtler than some readers expected.
Yeah, it just felt like a basic sketch. If I was younger I’d be more impressed, but having read many of the books that influenced her style, it doesn’t seem very original.
