So I’ve always been told
So I’ve always been told
I hear what you’re saying here. Obviously (or perhaps not) I wouldn’t just act on assumptions. Any kink/BDSM needs to be discussed and negotiated. It’s a pretty good sign if they give it five stars that a person is at least kink-curious.
Thanks for adding to the thread :)
The bio of Robert Moses?
This thread is for swiping right - which means yes.
I couldn’t name this book, the choice is impossible. I just typed “Neal Stephenson” as my answer. I adore his work and devoir it all, I’ve read a few of them in a single day.
I just straight up put bell hooks on my list, along with Davis and Rich. People will probably assume I’m a woman, not that I care if so.
Wilhelm Reich
Neal Stephenson, William Gibson, Stanislaw Lem, PK Dick, Octavia E Butler
Michelle Tea
Angela Davis, bell hooks, Adrienne Rich
Robert Anton Wilson
Margaret Atwood
Catch-22
Anarchist Cookbook
The City, Not Long After
Seniotext[e] stuff
All the Shakespeare
Various Samuel R Delaney, especially Hogg (because it was written to be unpublishable/unreadable because it’s so vile)
Various important feminism authors (Adrienne Rich, bell hooks, Angela Davis, Carol J Adams, etc) because in my youth I faced a decision point: trust my women peers and learn what feminism is or just oppose it like so many young men my age, and I made the right choice.

If she is a Mormon, and interested in me at all given what my profiles say about me, then it’s a huge green flag! Anyone with an oppressive religious background who is looking for a perv like me is gonna be a LOT of fun to play with, and rewarding to “save”. BTDT. Straight from *** Bible College, tracking to become a fundie preacher, to sex parties and dungeons, finally exploring the desires she’d had all her life and believed that religion could cure. A several year affair, twenty years ago. We’re still besties, she’s healthy, happy, sane, strong, and has a wonderful life partner.

If the person is a woman, it’s not a red flag at all. In fact it’s likely quite green for me, because I know she’s in to kink/BDSM but just has had a poor introduction or an otherwise crap pop culture idea about it, perhaps even one or more terrible past dominant/top partners. With her interest, it’ll be easy to demonstrate safe, consent-forward, empowering, healthy kink/BDSM as a dominant/top. It wouldn’t take long for her to recognize how terrible that story is.
Consent forward kink/BDSM practices include immediate and extensive communication about interests and scenes, and actual negotiation, before anything actually happens. If that turns her off, I’ll walk, but in my experience it’s never turned anyone off. Quite the opposite. Experienced kink women know to expect that, and neophytes immediately understand that this is the way it’s supposed to be.
(Still, I upvoted your choice, because for a woman seeking a man this is a massive red flag, and a male/dominant who loves that story is unlikely to ever be willing to learn/change.)

Yes! Have you read the two “Steven Bury” books?
He’s great in person, too. I’ve spoken to him a fair bit at parties and stuff.
