I felt like I was one of the only people who honestly enjoyed The Scarlet Letter when I had to read it in high school during the summer. But it was also challenging for me as I couldn’t have any distractions while reading it or else I would lose my concentration. I was the type to listen to music while reading while also riding in a car going somewhere. But I had to sit in complete silence while reading that book.
It wasn’t the most enjoyable experience reading it initially because of that, but after finishing it I would go back and read a random paragraph here and there as I liked the unique use of language in it. I can definitely understand why so many disliked the book though.
