Nothing but Blackened Teeth has such a cool cover but i’ve heard nothing but terrible things about this. i think the cover is very important for me at least because it’s not like im able to read a sample from the book before picking it up. a good and unique cover is what appeals to the eye and i think it’s be disingenuous to say otherwise.

I’ve yet to read Shogun but I plan on doing it soon. However, I will suggest that you read Musashi by Eiji Yoshikawa. It’s about a legendary Japanese figure and how he came to be. Very stunning and well written novel. Easily one of my favorites and I regret finishing it tbh because Im not able to read it anymore but I’m glad I did. The back mentions Shogun too which I thought was pretty funny. I hope it’ll suit your taste
