Bojack was worse but Eleanor definitely suffered more, even though she doesn’t remember a lot of it. She was in literal hell.

    Eleanor didn’t wait 17 minutes so… 🤷‍♀️

On a more serious note though, Eleanor seemed to be less of a destructive force if left alone, Bojack tends to make his problems everyone’s problems. Mind you, I also haven’t seen the show since it aired and have seen BJH multiple times so BJ’s actions are more fresh in my mind 😅

eh, i would argue that it is also destructive force, like 17minutes, when selling sick elderly people fake meds, supporting business of a sexual predator and yelling at boyfriend for boycotting. or showing a 9 year old The Shining , etc. Yeah, i get it,

depends on what we watched later ,what is fresh.

Probably Don Draper from mad men, walter white from breaking bad come close to Bojack in terms of how horrible they are. I don’t think Eleanor is in that group of characters.

i think that has a lot to do with the fact that Mad Men and Breaking Bad are not comedies. The Good Place probably creates a nice feel good illusion, bcs it’s technically a sitcom. BoJack is weird. sometimes almost comedy, and then it makes me want to not be alive.

It’s been a while since I watched the good place, can someone remind me of the worst things Eleanor did while alive? I mostly just remember her being trashy

I think OP is comparing them bc theyre both selfish opportunistic people. However, bojack has the power that comes with being a celebrity and Eleanor actively worked to be better when she found out the alternative was hell for her and everyone she knows so

Even before Eleanor’s redemption actually stuck she was nowhere as bad as BoJack. I mean, she did apparently sexually assault a mail man and attacked a mall Santa. But Eleanor didn’t use someone who looked dup to her as a possible father-figure for sex and then get her to use drugs and abandon her while she overdosed. Or almost murder a girlfriend rather than take drug addiction seriously. She’s closer to Diane’s level than BoJack’s.

Ultimately Eleanor’s redemption mostly stuck pretty early, while BoJack often relapsed back into being a shitty person. >!After Season 2 or so Eleanor managed to act with consistent and genuine selflessness. With huge moments like telling Chidi that Simone was his soul mate, and trying to redeem her parents to get them into the Good Place after she believed she was doomed. BoJack had a few moments of genuine kindness and self-sacrifice, but often scrapped it when he got his real fix, which was fame.!<

In terms of suffering more, Eleanor is probably lower, because ultimately she did have hope for most of the series. When she was alive, she seemed more comfortable blaming her parents for her own misdeeds when she was a bad person. For most of the show she had much better relationships with the supporting cast. >!In the finale, Eleanor got to go to actual heaven for countless eons with people she loved. Plus she tapped Chidi, and you gotta admit that guy was surprisingly jacked.!<

I’m not even sure that BoJack would be any better off after the finale, with the implication that he was going to go back into showbusiness, when only really toxic people would work with him. I wouldn’t at all be surprised if he fell back into drugs and misogyny.

i thought the finale cemented that he’s getting better at least since season 4 and will continue, but i agree

with the rest. I don’t find it ok to compare her to Diane. Diane was actively trying to help people and

improve the world. She would never buy a product from Hank Hippopotamus.

That only applies to Eleanor in the first three episodes or so.

!Eleanor literally fixed the afterlife. In season 3, even when she knew she would never be able to get into the Good Place, she tried to help the mother hwo neglected her make it into the Good Place. Eleanor was even willing to give up Chidi for the greater good in season 4. She did a lot of things to improive the world, even when it made her feel awful.!<

Eleanor was truly selfish and in her life with the exception of when she came back to life and tried to be good for 6 months she only did good things after she died to save her self

yes,as a victim of sexism since i was a literal child, from culprits such as my father, my brother and my teachers or my driving instructor, as well as HR workers much later,
still today having nightmares of my father screaming that women are stupid and so am i,

i am very sexist when i call out a woman who financially supported a sexual predator, even though

she saw him groping a victim on camera.
