This one. The first time I read it (and the scene before, of course) it was awkward, sure, and terrifying, but only theoretically. In my second read through, after it happened to me (not as bad as what happens to Mark, but still), I had to skip the issue with the scene (113? I think.) but I completely forgot about this one. Broke down crying immediately, I had to stop reading for a bit.

Can’t wait for this storyline to be animated, though. I’ll probably give skip the episode regardless, but it needs to be on screen, I think. It would open up a good conversation.

I’m so sorry you had to go through that. I thought I was alright after my SA and then one day I was binging Buffy and the scene comes on where Faith assaults Xander and I just suddenly broke down sobbing and I had to turn it off and skip that episode. It just seemed to come out of nowhere

What’s so profound about this moment is that he is trying to find any excuse at to why he didn’t do more and that that must mean he “wanted” it. The mental gymanstica we go through to try and excuse one"s own assualter is crazy. But that’s just the thing some times.

I just hope that a show that has grown so important and popular for amazon has the balls to make this a topic when it’s time in season 4, 5 or 6 to get to this plot. It could melt the internet two times over and spark some important conversations in real life.

I got to read invincible when i was starting high school, and many of the arcs where he was still going to school / college were relatable to some point. Few years later I got SA’d and re-reading it helped me understand it was not my fault, made me relate to mark in a way no other media where male SA is shown made me to. Many criticize the writers of TWD and Invincible, but they did a great job with these kinds of arcs
