I never read the comics, so my only impressions of him were from Season 1. Even in Season 1 not much was disclosed about him, but the dude is Abraham Lincoln. I always thought of him as being wise, amiable and good natured. Now he just kind of seems like an asshole, and that whole hooking up with Kate thing definitely brought his moral code down a few pegs in my eyes. I can’t blame his misgivings about Invincible, but why is he a jerk to everyone else? Maybe you just stop caring after a couple millennia.

I think he’s an ass, but I don’t dislike him. Imagine having lived for tens of thousands of years. Every wife and child you have ever had is long dead, and you cannot even interact with your descendants or anything. He’s seen more death and pain than any of us will ever know, because he’s always been close to the action.
If anything, I feel bad for him. He’s a man who’s been waiting to die for a long, long time. So I can get why he’s a fuckwit sometimes.
I think it’s also worth pointing out that he lost the 8 months between his death and Omni-Man vs Invincible showdown at the end of S1(and then he dies again), for him the death of his previous team is still recent… S2 starts after a month and we don’t even know how long it took for Cecil’s team to get him back together, from his perspective their deaths might’ve happened last week.

All of his anger in season 1 seemed pretty justified, so he didn’t get too many chances to come off like an asshole. But S02E01 he was a raging asshole. And deciding to hook up with Duplikate makes him like a super giga asshole. I should never be siding with Rexsplode in a scene. That’s how huge of an asshole The Immortal is being. And none of this even touched on what an asshole he was to Mark.
He’s very flawed but apparently he develops a lot. I love an immortal character who is brash and spontaneous instead of wise and slow-paced, very fun take on the concept.

Dure but there’s no background as to why they would be a good couple, why he’s interested in her or why she’s interested im him. It just reeks of sex, sure I know in the comics they get together but they havent laid any foundation as to why they wpuld be together, all we’ve seen is them fucking.
He’s a hard-ass which is exactly what the Guardians need. Though Dupli-Kate should obviously be relieved of her position as a field operative since you can’t have teammates in a romantic relationship with each other, especially between a superior and a subordinate.

It’s supposed to be his M.O., so he should understand how unacceptable and counterproductive it is to sleep with a subordinate shortly after assuming leadership over the group. It feels like kind of a character betrayal for what I’ve been lead to believe about him.
I don’t blame him for wanting to get laid as a response to dying twice by Omniman. But he’s the Immortal. In the Invincible Universe, I’m pretty confident he could arrange to have sex with 8-10 willing women at once.
I mean i would start to say that once you pas a certian lifespan and still are physically young (like somewhere past 739 years old but your body is around 40) age as a concept kinda loses its meaning. And since kate is a adult i really dont get why people are being weird about it. Like i could get the argument that you dont shit where you eat but somebody saying: “he should get somebody from his own age” is a bit weird.

No and honestly if all it takes for you to hate a character is they are strict and have consensual sex then I suggest you try expanding your horizons.
