So they’re looking at egg donors who will have half the DNA… so only Kenny OR Armando gets to contribute the other half. Right?? Am I disabled ? Have they discussed which one gets to actually be related to the child? Isn’t this sort of weird? Is this normal for gay couples ?

Calling pretty much the only way for gay couples to have a genetic kid weird… and also why is this any of our business? They are having a kid. They’ve discussed how they want it to be Kenny’s. What else do we need to know?
Why isn’t called about egg donor and not a surrogate? Will the same egg donor “tote” the baby? That part threw me off.
The egg donor and the surrogate are typically two different people. They were just picking out the egg donor.

My daughters master plan is to freeze her eggs and when she’s done traveling, maybe around 50 she will think about a baby. I just nod and smile. That sounds like a great plan honey. Are you fucking high?!?!
Aww well at least she has a good first step about freezing her eggs… Waiting until 50, talk about a “high risk” pregnancy! (I’m currently doing ivf at 35 and I’m already considered “high risk” pregancy due to my age. Smh)

If I remember correctly - Neil Patrick Harris and his husband went into surrogacy planning on twins from the same egg donor. So each dad has a bio child. But they don’t know for sure which twin genetically belongs to who. Pretty cool way of handling it!
Heterosexual couples going through a donor or surrogate will not both be genetically related to the resulting child either.
Unless they’re implanting embryos made from both of their genetic material into the surrogate’s womb, but this is less common and (I think?) more expensive. There’s also some outlier situations where things that sound impossible are achieved (like three genetic parents!), but Google will teach about that better than I could.

It won’t be both of their DNA. Armando said he wanted Kenny to use his sperm so they have one child from each of them. Also he commented that the kid would be more blonde with a blonde girl. I wonder if they actually go through with this.
I wonder if they ever asked one of Armando’s relatives for an egg. Doesn’t he have a sister? I feel like there’s so much more involved than just physical looks of the egg donor.
He does have a sister, but there are various reasons they might go with a donor. Maybe she was unwilling. Maybe their relationship isn’t great right now or there are other reasons they didn’t ask. Maybe she had health issues making her less suitable as a donor. Etc.
And she probably didn’t want that all hashed out on camera. Although I would have watched with interest.
I don’t get Armando demanding a kid and not wanting to adopt even if the process would take a long time…they both already have kids and Kenny is old…why

Back when they first started talking about this, Armando said that he wanted to use Kenny’s sperm. And tonight they made the comment that it would be good to use an egg donor who was blonde so the kid would likely be blonde.
That comment made go “interesting”. Let say hypothetically that Armando could have a kid, it would be highly unlikely that the kid would have blond hair. I wonder why Armando would want a blonde child.
