This lady was an absent mother to her child and left him with the trauma of growing up without a protective/loving mother. He adapted and grew up accordingly. They have a very limited relationship now. She has no place shitting on his current relationship because she dislikes the way Mary treats him. This is some major dysfunctional projection.
Also, Brandan made some comment that he hopes Mary is nice to his mom and doesn’t trigger any sort of relapse. Mary should not have to walk on eggshells or put up with his mom’s nasty attitude because his mom has an addiction.
Also, her comments about the Phillipines and the poverty made her look like such an ignorant, arrogant American. I doubt she made an effort or took any interest to learn anything about the culture or language prior to her visit - even though her grandchild is from there.
I would cut her slack if she and Brandan were really close and/or she had been a supportive mother to him. But literally all she brings to the table in his life is negativity. She failed him as a mom, and now she seems to want Mary to let him down as well.
I don’t blame her, honestly.
For disliking Mary? Yes, I agree.
But her attitude in general? Especially given her past?
She really does not seem like she wants her son to be happy. And she definitely loves negativity.
What attitude in general? She landed, was smiling and had to deal with Mary giving her the stone cold look. I’d be bitchy too if I flew all this way to come to a wedding when I know damn well Mary has an issue with every female that even remotely looks at Brandan.
Part of coming clean with addiction is going to those you have wronged and to try to make it right. Mary being a stone wall in front of Brandan would certainly prevent his mother from building a relationship. Brandan is whipped by Mary. It wasn’t just Brandan’s mother who isn’t able to look or speak to Brandan but also his sister. So what’s your excuse for her?
I think you’re projecting because you’re holding a lot of anger towards Brandan’s mom and well… honestly you don’t even know her.
And this is coming from someone who’s stepfather was a serious addict to drugs. So I have experience in dealing with an addict.
YES THIS!!! When watching the episode I noticed while she arrived she was smiling yet Mary’s face was like a childish scowl so immediately who’s the one causing drama from the get go….?
Mary is a narcissistic abuser and I hope people watching will realise this is not healthy.

Mary is a disgusting mess. She just wants others to share in her miserable outlook. Misery loves company. She now will have it in the form of a child. Poor freaking kid. B.'s mother sees exactly what is going on. End of.
