There exist many YouTube channels that critique a single movie extremely in-depth of multiple hours. I thought, being a writer myself, how great it would be to have something similar to that for books. Are there any channels that do such really in-depth critiques for bad books? Like they go scene by scene, they dissect the themes, where the books went wrong, how it could be improved, etc.?
Lost in Adaptation does Book Reviews/dissections along with his film adaptation videos
Crowcaller has several long, in-depth videos
Love Crow Caller
If Books Could Kill podcast
James Tullos. His channel is 70% roasting books
I love his channel in general.
Krimson Rogue does some in-depth and long videos.
Krimson Rogu
Same!
Curious, any reason it has to be exclusively about bad books?
I really enjoy Unresolved Textual Tension. They do more of a podcast rather than a video, though.
came here to recommend this! It’s not exclusive to bad books but they do quite a few of them. They do focus a lot of story structure in their discussions which I find really helpful, but most of all I like that it sounds like a discussion that I would like to have with my friends.
I usually watch them on their Youtube channel.
Jenny Nicholson
I enjoy how Alizee just destroys Colleen hoover books! :D
They’re not her main thing but Jenny Nicholas has some funny ones. I really like her Trigger Warning review haha
Dominic Noble does this sort of thing very well
not a youtube channel but the “if books could kill” podcast, moreso teardowns of nonfiction “self help” airport bestsellers that have bad ideas than pure literary critique though but it’s a ton of fun to listen to
Most people won’t finish a bad book. I mean why waste our time on bad books when there’s so many great ones out there…
