I always assumed it was in her things from the nursing home. Bojack never looked through them until after she was gone, so he wouldn’t have seen/registered it (remember how he doesn’t notice Hollyhock’s envelope in Beatrice’s things until after both of them are gone?). She clearly remained obsessed with her weight until the day she died, so I don’t think it’s a stretch to believe that she could have been taking it in the nursing home, and while sneaking it into Hollyhock’s coffee.
What drug are those supposed to represent and also where would one find them?
Her dementia only got really bad a couple years prior to this point, and that’s a huge bottle of pills, easily enough to last a few years, especially if not taken regularly (which she almost certainly wasn’t).
She probably already had it before her dementia got really bad and BoJack never bothered to look through her things from the nursing home (because of course he wouldn’t), so when she saw/overheard that Holly was overweight (by the standards of others), she found them with her things and started putting them in coffee like she had her whole life.
Many dementia patients go through “showtime” where they appear completely normal and functioning.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Bojack had body issues of his own. Between having a mother like Bea, being around industry types who pobably wanted him to maintain a certain appearance, and constantly being a target of paparazzi, it wouldn’t be surprising that he was worried about his weight.
As has been discussed several times on this sub… She already had them and was using them herself, at least at some point in her life. We see her taking her pretty pills during flashbacks.
I’m certain she had an industrial supply for herself. In Bea’s twisted mind, she was “sharing” her precious stash of weight-loss supplement with Hollyhock. Gives new meaning to every previous and flashback shot of Beatrice holding a mug.
I can see that in her mind she was helping her to be pretty, trying to make up for what it happened.
In a twisted way she was treating her as her own daughter, it’s just that she was a terrible mother to Bojack.
They never cone right out and say it, but Beatrice was a longtime amphetamine addict.
It’s just pharmaceutical amphetamine, everyone can get their own prescription if they’re a little chubby! 👍

People w Alzheimer’s tend to get back into routines of the past, back when they were much younger. Beatrice probably was stocking up on the pills when her Alzheimer’s started to get bad before she was in care, I think from the comments her parents make in her backstory ep this extreme diet almost eating disorder like behavior was instilled in her from a very young age and diet pills, remedies etc would’ve been deeply engrained in her mind, which is very sad if you think about it. Especially the line “no one likes a fatty patty” when bojack confronts her, it’s normal and natural to her. Sad all round.
