the significance of the team jerseys that Randy was wearing as he traveled through the panderverse?

For reference: “Omg I’m wearing a Baltimore Ravens shirt now! I hate the Ravens! I don’t know if I can do this. Oh, now it’s the Dolphins! Ah! The Chiefs! Oh it’s the Chiefs!”

How does someone who follows American football interpret those lines? Is there anything to interpret, like are they all bad teams or something?

Imagine it’s a cricket team or whatever is popular where you’re from. Could have been soccer (Germany, Argentina, Japan). It’s just a complaint about any team that’s not “your” team🙃

I think it was a joke about how multiverse movies and shows, despite supposedly being about the wild and infinite variation that would be possible across a spectrum of infinite alternate universes, tend to wind up showing us a bunch of extremely similar versions of the same stuff. All that’s changing about Randy is which American football jersey he’s wearing, an almost meaningless difference, but everyone behaves as though the change is profound and disturbing.

This exactly! It’s less about football and more about making fun of “multiverse” fiction. There’s really no difference between the “different versions of Randy” except which football team he roots for.

Randy is a Denver Broncos fan. He hates those other teams, especially the Kansas City Chiefs, being in the same division as the Broncos.

To add to this, it would be like a Manchester fan wearing a city jersey. Or arsenal wearing a Tottenham. They are just rivals.

Trey and Matt are hardcore footballs fans. Just jabs at opposing teams. They like the Bronco’s.

Randy is a Broncos fan. A number of years ago the Ravens stopped the Broncos from reaching the Super Bowl by defeating them at the last minute with a wild play. The Broncos and Chiefs are in the same division and play each other twice a year. The Broncos have lost to the Chiefs in each of these games for the last several years (until a couple weeks ago). As for the Dolphins, they are good this year so I think that’s why they were included. So Randy would not want to be in any universe in which he was a fan of these teams and not the Broncos

It has to do with NFL rivalries, specifically the AFC rivalry between the broncos and pretty much everyone else in the conference (the baltimore ravens are another competitive afc team). The broncos were really good and played in conference championships and super bowls (relatively) recently, like season 14,15, 16 of sp. If you watch Broadway Bro Down you’ll see more of Randy’s broncos fandom. It’s pretty great how they really nail everything they do and parody

Randy is from Colorado, and is therefore a Denver Broncos fan along with most of the South Park cast since Denver is the only major city in Colorado with a professional American Football team.

In the Broncos division are three other teams, the Las Vegas Raiders, the Los Angeles Chargers, and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Every season, these teams play each of the other teams in their division twice. Once at home and once away. You end up hating these teams much more than the rest of the league since you go head to head so often.

Why Randy hates the Ravens, I don’t know. I would imagine the average Broncos fan would hate their divisional rivals more, like the Chiefs. There’s nothing too noteworthy or an Easter egg about him hating the Ravens. It’s just not his team, I guess.

It’s a bit of satire to show how lazy/uncreative multiverse creators are, such as Disney. Don’t think it’s anything to do with the actual sport.

People read too much into that joke. Now granted I know nothing of american football, but the joke in question is clearly just a nod to how multiple universes are usually just slightly different with characters just wearing different outfits to signify that it’s a different universe. The joke isn’t that deep.
