Quite honestly I can’t stand only a few books that I’ve read, recently The Awakening by Nora Roberts.
Holy crap, do I reallllyyyyy want my money back. I was bored. So. Bored. The magic system was subpar, the characters just….ew, everything was so, so boring. The MC is an idiot.
What book is a zero star read for you?
Under the Whispering Door by TJ Klune 😬😬😬
I was just lent this book by a friend, I haven’t read any TJ Klune before, what did you not like about it?

I really didn’t like it either. The characters were so flat. Meg was so under developed. The love story was so out of place.
There was a lot here to make a better story, but the execution was just so off. I wish they focused on the fantastical elements & not on a really boring “love story”

Really? I personally loved it. Though I admit that it was mostly the atmosphere of the tea shop. Haha
I ended up liking the book, but I can see people’s arguments. The romance did seem a bit out of place, or at least I wasn’t really shown the romance developing in a believable way or what it was about each other that they liked.
Also, I hate it when characters are given shit for seemingly no reason. Wallace might not have been the best person in life (or the worst), but he did nothing to Meg or Nelson, and they were both assholes to him for quite a while with no real reason.
Let me remove that from my TBR
I absolutely loved the location and the idea. That’s it. But those two things were great!
Ok it is wildly predictable and a combination of every self help story you’ve ever heard. But it’s cozy and I loved the characters so I enjoyed it! It’s totally a cliche though!
Thank you! I was starting to think I was the only person who didn’t like this book. I liked the concept and had settled in for something cozy, but it went beyond that. It was just cutesy and superficial.
