A friend of mine let me borrow Dune 1-3. I loved them and felt I would definitely re-read Dune. When the deluxe box set of 1-3 came out I bought it but it is just sitting on my shelf. I do plan on rereading them but probably not for awhile. Sometimes I also just like having the books I’ve read on my shelf as “trophies”.
I see the books I choose to keep physical copies of not just as an opportunity to reread whenever I want, but as a decor piece and sometimes, a conversation piece. A friend comes over, has a look at my shelf, “oh I read hat, what did you think of x part” or “oh I’ve been meaning to read that/it looks interesting/etc” and I can offer to loan it to them or points on why they specifically may or may not like it. Or they see what I’ve got and might recommend me something based on what they see there! It’s nice.
