My worst example was the word GIF pronounced like the peanut butter instead of properly as in Graphical. It’s worse because Amanda Montell was writing a linguistics book about the history of language and words.
Recent example was “eschew” which is pronounced Eh-shoo but the narrator said “Eskew” and it confused me so much I had to Google it to make sure I hadn’t been saying it wrong my whole life. What exmaples have you found?
I had to stop listening to the Game of Thrones books because they switch narrators in Book 4 and the new narrator did not bother to do the bare minimum and listen to the prior audiobook for consistent pronunciations.
Can’t remember all of the changes but Catlin becoming Caitlyn was the most glaring.
If it was the one with Roy Dotrice narrating, he pronounced Brienne about five different ways, including, egregiously, Bry-EEN. Like WTF?!
My husband listened to those, and still calls her Bry-een just to drive me crazy!
weird, never knew there were alternate ASoIF narrators. It’s always just been Roy for me lol, rip.
Book 4 was re-recorded with the same narrator as the first 3, when he also recorded book 5.
The dude just had so many weird takes. Catelyn was bad, Gilly was bad, Jaime lost his accent midway through the series. Barristan and Drogo sounded like doddering old me.
