Imo Hasan (out of the running probably lol), Roy WJ, Desi Lydic, Ronny Chieng, are the best, in that order. Although I must say they do lack name brand to host such a big show.
Uhhhh Keppler should be up there. Roy Wood Jr is mid at best. My order is:
Hasan
Klepper
Desi
Silverman
Leslie was the best host TDS has tried since this whole rotating thong began, a close second with Sarah.
Charlemagne is by far the worst.
Hasan is good but not on my list. Roy, Jordan, Desi… not necessarily in that order. Jordan and Desi together would be the absolute winning answer for me.
Hasan was good until that Mr. Wonderful interview. Lots of “gotcha” moments that really came across poorly.
I like the idea of Jordan and Desi together and enjoyed what I saw. I think that would be a good choice and an interesting dynamic / change to the format.
Cracker
I didn’t see Leslie’s shows but Charlemagne let the right wing extremists off the hook big time.
He was fine, but not for interviews, he literally just walked through the talking points and didn’t stop to question them for a second.
Not good.
His monologues were so bad. just read from teleprompter
Disagree but to each their own. I will say he’d be an awful host because he doesn’t push back on guests.
Because the man doesn’t know how to hold an intelligent conversation.
All he knows how to do is talk shit to people, and when that doesn’t fit the situation, he just flops around like a fish out of water.
I like Leslie
I do too, but I feel like hosting (at least TDS) doesn’t play to her strengths.
Her strength is screaming. That’s her whole schtick.
So you’re saying they got their Lewis Black replacement all lined up?
Agreed but to me she was nowhere near the worse.
Totally agree. She was definitely OK (if not great), and there were a few that weren’t even OK).
If I had to give her a letter grade, it would be somewhere between a C+ and a B-.
That’s the same for me. Probably a C+ which is way better than some of the guest hosts.
Desus Nice was the worst. He spent the whole week talking about his crew from “tHe bX.” It felt like I was listening to his personal podcast rather than a comedy news show.
I love Al Franken, but his performance was surprisingly poor. He fumbled over every line.
Charlamagne is an experienced host, so his flow was really good. But he brought on Republican guests (that should be a good thing) and have them the most softball questions ever. Besides, I will always remember him for saying dur oking the 2020 primaries that, of the candidates he had in his show, Kamala Harris and Pete Buttigieg were the two most authentic and real people in the race. Harris and Buttigieg were easily the two most insincere people in the race. I do not trust Charlamagne’s judgement.
Charlemagne is a hack. All he knows how to do is talk shit. When that doesn’t work or doesn’t fit the situation, he’s just lost. It’s all he’s got.
Hasan is terrible and shouldn’t be in the running. Charlemagne made jokes about Asian guys and should also not come back. Jordan and Desi were great though.
To be honest though, Roy was the front runner and should have gotten it from the start after the initial round of guest hosts.
Desi, Jordan and Sarah Silverman for me were the best. Anyone of those 3 and I’ll be happy.
Desi should be host.
Wait… people didn’t like Leslie? I thought she was the strongest of the guest hosts
Reddit is probably the worst place for discourse for anything TV/movies. I’ve seen strong positive reaction for Leslie - and almost all other guest host everywhere except for on this subreddit, and yet this thread is titled “so are we all in agreement that - “. No. The answer is always no
Yeah, I feel like I’ve been troll baited by this headline. Leslie is easily in my top 3-4 hosts to watch.
I think Charlemagne should be disqualified simply because he’s the progenitor of every royal family in Europe.
I thought Hasan’s rebuttal was convincing but yeah I don’t know if that’s going to be enough to put him back on the list.
Hasan gives off such bad vibes for me, he seems shady and so fake & forced, but maybe it’s just me.
There are people I love and respect who claim that he’s funny, but he has always had this weird influencer-techbro-trying-to-give-a-Ted-Talk energy that I do not respond well to.
You nailed it! The vibes are so off with him, and I think the host has to be wholesome and inspire trust.
A woman at my work just yesterday told me she thought that these two were the best hosts by far!
Not sure if they’re the worst. I don’t find Charlemagne very engaging. Leslie had that interview with the NYTimes(?) guy that had that viral clip about Trump leading in the polls which I couldn’t stand as the biggest piece of Doomer bait I’ve seen in a while.
