10 minutes in, It’s way different than the comic and from how I thought this would be
in a good or bad way? are they deviating from the source material in a major way?
Definitely a good way. Multiple “fuck you”s from mark.
Absolutely! Makes it all so more realistic and, therefore, a lot more impactful. Even the small things like Amber, Eve, and William all being friends is just a nice touch. And Deb getting that boost she needed from a friend was awesome. The comics had her be an alcoholic until >!she had to take care of Oliver, really leaning on what a sad woman needs is a child to take care of. Show Debbie will need to be strong to realistically be able to handle the fact that your lying husband who killed millions and almost killed your son had another child with an alien insect and now you gotta take care of the baby lmao!<
I’m especially just loving >!Eve having more development. I know people say comic Eve was always well written, but honestly the comics don’t really deem her important until she and Mark start dating. Even then, any development she had always revolved around Mark. The show actually has her face real shit on her own and that’ll make certain events even more impactful than the comics.!<
In the comic Mark cries and tells Nolan how much he misses him. His response in the show is way more realistic. I also believe we can have that scene later on, right now it feels way too early. So I say the change is for the better.
In general, the writing in the show is way better than the comics
Which makes sense considering Kirkman is basically getting the opportunity to fix issues he might have had with how he wrote the comics
They’re not deviating in a major way at all in the show, just changing how characters respond to things. This isn’t something like The Witcher or The Boys where it’s incredibly different from the source material
