!In a good way imo. Just a better take on how Mark initially interacts with Nolan and how he feels seeing Nolan have another wife and kid. He’s angry, confused, but still good at heart. The comics had Mark cry while hugging Nolan, exclaiming how much Mark missed him, asking him to come home, and Nolan seemed overwhelmed by Mark’s emotion and just said, “Oh man.” Lol so yeah better take. Besides that, more characterization with Debbie and Eve, which is always more welcome than how the comics treated them. Comic Debbie was 2 dimensional asf and Eve was still in Africa with really no development for a long ass while.!<

!Generally speaking so far the show has taken the comic’s story and improved upon if 10 fold (at least in my opinion). Spreading out the stories from after the Omniman-Invicible fight in the comics throughout season 1 while they build on Omniman being a villain, ultimately leading up to that fight, being a prime example. But even beyond that bigger change, the characterization amd actions of most characters is stronger and more in depth, the story is flowing way better and creating more opportunity for growth in the characters, better involvement of the more secondary characters, all around the show really seems to be Kirkman’s attempt at perfecting his work on a second run through.!<

Absolutely! Makes it all so more realistic and, therefore, a lot more impactful. Even the small things like Amber, Eve, and William all being friends is just a nice touch. And Deb getting that boost she needed from a friend was awesome. The comics had her be an alcoholic until >!she had to take care of Oliver, really leaning on what a sad woman needs is a child to take care of. Show Debbie will need to be strong to realistically be able to handle the fact that your lying husband who killed millions and almost killed your son had another child with an alien insect and now you gotta take care of the baby lmao!<

I’m especially just loving >!Eve having more development. I know people say comic Eve was always well written, but honestly the comics don’t really deem her important until she and Mark start dating. Even then, any development she had always revolved around Mark. The show actually has her face real shit on her own and that’ll make certain events even more impactful than the comics.!<

In the comic Mark cries and tells Nolan how much he misses him. His response in the show is way more realistic. I also believe we can have that scene later on, right now it feels way too early. So I say the change is for the better.

Which makes sense considering Kirkman is basically getting the opportunity to fix issues he might have had with how he wrote the comics

They’re not deviating in a major way at all in the show, just changing how characters respond to things. This isn’t something like The Witcher or The Boys where it’s incredibly different from the source material
