Mark was putting in work against Thula, did not expect him to fight that good against someone so strong.
I was genuinely surprised he actually managed to fight back, in the comic he got absolutely bodied, he wasn’t even fighting Thula, just some generic Viltrumite rando

Tbh he event got some good hits in in the comic, he just *ended* it loosing. He did fight back.
I haven’t read the comics, but I’m assuming the fight wasn’t shown like it was in the show. In this episode, he is honestly winning the fight until he started to feel bad and Thula is able to catch him off guard and stab him.
I mean he’s getting some good licks in here to be fair. But in the show god damn they turned my boy into a fucking beast and actually kinda had him win (until he hesitated to kill her that is). I loved it. It was absolutely masterful
The fight doesn’t look too one sided against mark. I think the foreground picture was just to show contrast between the two teams so that it doesn’t seem like 1 side is winning.
I notice that Mark doesn’t really fight like other Viltrumites. He uses locks, what looks like some boxing fundamentals and some neat holds. I wonder if he actually practiced of if Viltrumites are just born with the capacity to throw hands
Maybe the secret to defeating the Viltrumites is just to boxing and capoeira against them.
This is actually a pretty long-running trope - Boxing Lessons for Superman. Basically how a being with superpowers can be made stronger by learning “mundane” skills.
Most probably it’s training he did with his dad, most probably it’ll be an advantage over some Viltrumites with less technical fighting styles. IMO that’s what that fight scene implied though I haven’t read the comics.
You’re right I think. You noticed Mark kept her on the ground. Viltrumites are always fighting in their air for advantage. Even then they are so powerful they don’t need “technique” when almost everything dies in one punch. Mark used strategy to close the gap in skill and experience by making her fight on his terms,on the ground, where HE has more experience
He also seemed faster than her? Is Mark supposed to be really fast in Universe? Like even compared to other Viltrumites
I haven’t read the comics but I don’t think so. Nolan is way faster than Mark, and even though it seems like Nolan has an advantage over most other Viltrumites, it doesn’t seem like it’s by that much.
Super satisfying after seeing him get bodied by Nolan last season.
He has crazy untapped potential. The problem is that his human side holds him back
So, Gohan lol
Mark is Gohan basically
To make a VERY long story short
We saw a little bit of what he is capable of in the very opening of the season, albeit implicitly. Him and his dad can destroy/take over a planet in a matter of weeks. We forget that even though they’re able to fly around earth in less then an hour it’s still a big fucking place with a lot of fucking infrastructure and super powered people. Even tho they’re not at risk of death figmj ting on their earth is figure it’s akin to you and one other mate going to like a Lego convention filled with nothing but angry/scared kids and destroying the entire place while taking on all those 3-12y olds. Would probably still take more then a day which is the equivalent to this (based on absolutely nothing btw but it just felt like an good comparison)
does it make me a sociopath that now i’m wondering how many 3-12 year olds i can take on before they kill me
Honestly alternate universe Mark seems pretty weak now considering main Mark without holding back fought a full on Viltrimite like that while alternate Mark was barely keeping up with Immortal.
I feel like immortal is like viltrumite foot soldier level, even his powers indicate so. Immortal might literally be very similar to viltrumites in his genetic make up or whatever after he got blasted with that orb thing thousands of years ago (it was in a shot of I think season 1 , montage of his life, when the mailers Brought him back). But yeah OU (our universe) mark has something other marks don’t seem to have. Something…evil? Dark? A certain rage? Remember in season 1 there were like 1 or 2 moments during fights for example with the Flaxxans where he snapped and went super Sayan. Now this season he released some of his darkness with Darkwings sidek-apprentice. It might truly be a mental thing.
Well to be fair, Immortal was keeping up with Nolan for a bit in their fight from s1ep7. Perhaps Immortal is just as strong as lower level Viltrimites, which Nolan clearly isn’t.
Tbf the human side is what actually allows him to go beyond the stoic viltrumite, as he can actually be emotional and build that “fuck you” rage. It’s a double edged sword for sure, >!but he eventually becomes the strongest in this universe because of it!<
I didn’t realize, but has he really not killed anyone in the show? I mean not directly.
I didn’t know you had a reddit account Nolan!
humanity and/or naivity, he’s not really weaker than viltrumites.
They hint at his power in the first season against Battle Beast and Machine Head.
He gonna go Berserk when he learn how they killed his Alien homie
