This was probably the only problem I had with the episode. Every time my investment in Mark and Nolan vs the viltrumites was reaching the peak, they cut away to another story line and kind of took me out of it. I kept going “God damnit I dont wanna see this cut back to my boy Mark!!!”
The pacing was just a little off for me
They actually show the covers of a couple of his books. If you go back and look at it, it’s foreshadowing a couple things that’ll come into play later on. For example the book Debbie holds titled “savage planet savage beasts”
I mean he’s getting some good licks in here to be fair. But in the show god damn they turned my boy into a fucking beast and actually kinda had him win (until he hesitated to kill her that is). I loved it. It was absolutely masterful

His “I’m not supposed to feel this way” speech was absolutely incredible but you’re right for some reason the rest of the episode felt very… Off? Idk it just felt kinda flat compared to everything he did in season 1. The sane thing happened in the Mortal Kombat game, his lines over there sounded a little robotic too
