Soooorta wish this was episode had been focused solely on Mark’s storyline, like S1’s finale. Kind of left me feeling like his scenes could’ve used more fleshing out and more time to breathe. Good episode regardless, of course.

Yeah. The show definitely improved lots of things from these issues and the comic in general.

Overall though, I think I actually preferred the comic fight. This is one of the very few things so far that I think the comic did better.

I agree, but remember we won’t get the S2 finale until probably February. I’m sure the finale will be dedicated to Mark.

My problem isnt the lack of Mark per se, just that I feel that we could have seen more of Thraxa, and more of it uninterrupted.

I think it would have been better if it wasn’t jumping around so much. Maybe not cutting out Eve, Debbie, and Donald’s stuff, but rather bringing them more together? Let the first half of the episode be dedicated to them and the second half focus on Mark and Nolan on Thraxa. They had the set up for it, Eve shows up and asks where Mark is, Amber says hes in space, they have their whole conversation and then we follow Eve for a bit before swapping to Donald or Debbie. Get their things out of the way, end it on Debbie this time finally saying “goodbye” to Nolan, and then cut from there to Mark reuniting with Nolan. Dedicate the whole remaining 30 odd minutes to Thraxa specifically. The fight scene itself doesn’t need to be crazy long, and it felt fine in the episode, but keeping it all contained would make Thraxa in general flow better and be better build up to the Viltrumites arriving and the fight. Plus, it would flow better into the mid-season cliffhanger of Mark being tasked with conquering earth. The Mauler Twins whole thing could’ve just as easily been a single end credit, or maybe a split end credit. The only thing I’d keep in order is the top of the episode where Nolan and Debby are dealing with their grief.

I think they should’ve just left out the Mauler Twins entirely. Especially since they already hinted in season 1 that the Maulters already went through this kind of scenario before when they warned Robot that things never end well if it’s not clear who is and isn’t the clone. I remember watching it and thinking this means they will just skip this plot point.

I thought it was really cool how he had that switch. When everything slows down and he fights without holding back. Only he fucked up and showed mercy at the last second when he was supposed to kill her.

I hope to see mark being more brutal like his dad literally beating the pulp out of the bad guys.

I think it’s a good idea in theory, but in practice it stretches belief. I can believe that Mark has been holding back his “true power” to spare others, but not to the point where he’s already powerful enough to defeat a renowned Viltrumite with relative ease
