According to the theory of general relativity, the speed needed to escape a black hole’s gravitational pull is the same as the speed of light. So, to escape a black hole, you would have to travel at the speed of light, which is about 299,792,458 meters per second in a vacuum.
If people don’t look into it there’s no reason they’d know. I know about this because I’ve been interested in physics since first school and watched loads of documentaries, YouTube videos and read into it.
It’s not relevant to a lot of people though, so lots of people won’t have any reason to know what an event horizon is
I know that, but it’s common sense that there’s a distance in which black holes don’t trap you and rip you to shreds. That’s why we’re safe here from black holes. It’s simple logic.
